ARC of Monroe presents A Moving Experience

Enjoy special dance performances, celebrating peace, love, and inclusion, presented by the Arc of Monroe’s A Moving Experience at the Strong Museum on Thursday, August 22 at noon.

“We are very excited to be performing at The Strong as part of our 25th anniversary celebration around Rochester and Western New York,” says Emily Brown, creative arts coordinator of dance for A Moving Experience. “The group has worked incredibly hard on a new piece of choreography titled ‘Rise Up,’ which demonstrates the journey of not only our group, but of the greater community of people with varied abilities. Bringing our message to Rochester in this way is a great honor.”

The modern dance troupe is comprised of adults supported by the Arc and currently attending the Arc’s art-focused day habilitation program, Community Arts Connection. The diverse group performs for various audiences around western New York at schools, community centers, and nursing facilities, and will be performing in this year’s Fringe Festival in Rochester at GEVA Theatre. The group also hosts workshops in creative movement and choreography for groups looking to move and learn in an inclusive environment.

A Moving Experience Performance is included with general museum admission fees. Visit www.museumofplay.org for museum information.
