Hilton violinist selected as concertmaster for All-County Music Festival

Luke Pisani, a freshman at Hilton High School, was recently selected as the orchestra concertmaster at the Senior High All County Music Festival to be held March 20 and 21 at West Irondequoit High School and Eastman Theater. Out of the students who participated in Solo Fest, Luke was the top high school violinist in the county.

The concertmaster is the lead violinist, who sits in the first chair next to the conductor’s podium. The concertmaster leads the orchestra in its tuning prior to the concert, and customarily plays all of the violin solos within pieces.

Luke has also served as concertmaster for the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra’s (HYSO) 2019-2020 season and will be touring in Germany and the Czech Republic during spring break. A conducting apprentice, Luke will conduct a full orchestra for the first time on Sunday, February 9 during the Centennial Orchestra Concert beginning at 2 p.m. at Hochstein School.

The HYSO is an advanced youth orchestra comprised of grade 7 through 12 students from all over the Rochester region.

On Mother’s Day, May 10, Luke will also perform an entire solo violin piece during the HYSO Spring Concert. He earned the honor by winning the HYSO Concerto Competition, which he also won two years ago. A video of his performance can be viewed at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2dHKFgfMUMU&feature=youtu.be.
